The fortune cookie

This is my contribution for Friday Fictioneers. Read this and it will make complete sense ๐Ÿ™‚

***********************************

A set meal for two at 8 pm.
Connor had finally found the courage. When the Saturday finally arrived, just 13 hours after she picked up her set meal, Connor kept checking time every five minutes. Seconds felt like hours for him today.
At 7:20 pm, he went upstairs to dress up for the night.
At 7:50 pm, he collected sushi from the old chef.
โ€œConnor!โ€
โ€œWhat?โ€
โ€œYou forgot chopsticks!โ€
He went in to grab them, and the old chef asked a million dollar question -โ€œwhat makes you think sheโ€™s coming?โ€
โ€œHope.โ€
At 8:50 pm, his hope died.
